Ramona Falls, Oregon
Ramona Falls!
Ramona Falls is located about an hour east of Portland,
Oregon, and you guessed it; features a stunning waterfall at the end of the
hike!
The hike is about 7 miles long and has been reviewed as easy
to moderate, so it is doable for beginners, and especially doable for more
experienced hikers.
I have been to Oregon once, and let me tell you, it’s a beautiful
place. When I had the opportunity to go to Oregon, I did quite a bit of hiking
and it filled with lots of green forests and stunning overlooks at the top of
each hike.
It has been my goal to get back to Oregon and do some more
hiking and I have been set on hiking Ramona Falls, considering I did not see any waterfalls in my previous hikes in Oregon.
A few facts about this hike:
- 7 miles’ round-trip, labeled as out and back.
- Around 1000 feet elevation gain
- Can be very crowded
- Hiking this trail is primarily through early spring to late fall for best weather conditions
I know a seven-mile hike can seem like a lot, especially
with a significant amount of elevation gain, but the good thing about this
trail is that there is the option to take an easier route back. Once you reach
the waterfall, coming back you can either take the way you came, or you can
take a trail that is slightly longer, but is easier to hike back. It is a good
thing that there are options with this trail, because sometimes that is not
always how it is going to be!
Considering this hike is a little longer, you may want to
dedicate a whole day to hiking this trail. While it will only take you five to
six hours, you’ll want to make time for enjoying the views around you and
pictures if that is something you’re interested in!
