As I have mentioned previously, the aspect of hydration is super important when it comes to hiking! Today, I want to recommend a product that is a personal favorite of mine to always keep me hydrated during hikes, in the most convenient way possible! This is the Rim Runner™ backpack by Camelbak, found on Camelbak’s website. I received this backpack in particular as a gift, and I am so thankful that I have this for when I am hiking. It has a nozzle on the outside so I can easily access water when I want, which is important to me because it can be a nuisance having to stop and pull a water bottle out of my backpack in the middle of a hike. It is perfect for short hikes, and definitely long hikes because it is light on your back, which is what you’ll want if you’re going on a longer hike. I know that in the past, before I had this backpack, I would stuff a bunch of water bottles in my backpack, which tends to get pretty heavy on top of the other things I ha

Review Post

Today I want to share a short review of:  Maroon Bells in Aspen, Colorado. First of all, I give this tourist destination an A plus. I will elaborate more on Maroon Bells at a later time, but I would like to give an initial review of this magical place. Maroon Bells is one of the most photographed places possibly in the country, and is a very popular place for tourists to come who are visiting Colorado. Maroon Bells is nestled in the White River National Forest, and located just outside of Aspen, Colorado. I had the opportunity to travel to Maroon Bells in May of 2017, and I did that just based on reviews I had read about Maroon Bells, so I am hoping my review of Maroon Bells will encourage others to take a trip to see this beautiful place. Maroon Bells offers multiple different trails that range from easy to moderate, though if you’re not from Colorado, the altitude can be a bit intense at first which may make the hikes seem harder. Keep in mind, you

Visit my blog posts and check out what they have to offer! My blog is filled with previous experiences, tips for people who are just getting started hiking, or for people who are already experienced hikers looking for a way to connect with more people who hike. A big part of my blog is sharing my experiences with my readers about where I’ve had the opportunity to hike, as well as things I’ve learned along the way. I am a normal girl, who just shares a passion for hiking and I love to share my passion with others! It is important to me that I share with my readers the good times that I’ve had hiking, as well as the bad times that I’ve had hiking. This can include places and trails that I absolutely love, and places and trails that I’m not particularl

My favorite place so far that I’ve had the opportunity to hike in is Colorado. Colorado has some of the most spectacular views I have ever seen, as well as some of the best hiking I have ever done. It’s a place that offers endless places to hike, and has so many different scenic views to see. When I was in Colorado, I had the opportunity to hike in the Rocky Mountains, up to 14,000 feet elevation. I hiked through dry land as well as snow, scaled the sides of the mountains in the snow in my gym shoes, and saw lots of different wildlife in the process. In The Hiking Life’s blog, Colorado Trail Trip Report , Cam talks about how he hiked the Colorado trail over a period of two weeks. Looking at his post and how he talks about his experience hiking the Colorado Trail, gave me motivation to one day be able to hike this trail. One day, I plan to hike this trail and I will do so by referencing back to this blog for relevant information that will help me along the way. This bl

In my opinion, the blogger I have previously spoken about, Cam in The Hiking Life , is one of the best bloggers about the subject of hiking. In a previous blog, I recommended that you guys check out some of his blogs which offer relevant tips for those going on hikes. While he offers a lot of tips, his blog offers everything readers could possibly need to know and want to know on the subject of hiking. Just to highlight and sum up his blog, his topics range from different hikes, how to plan trips, different gear that is useful for hiking, different skills for hiking, as well as trip consulting. He posts quite often, which is nice for those of you who like his blog and want to stay up to date on his blog posts. This blogger has done very well at covering a wide range of topics that will answer pretty much all questions that readers may have, which is ideal for a blog. He has over 43 pages of posts that are all relevant for readers looking to get more information such

I came across a blogger named Cam, who has his own blog called ‘The Hiking Life’. From what I’ve gathered looking through his blog, is that he is a very experienced hiker. Being an experienced hiker, you learn the in’s and out’s of hiking, and hopefully have a lot of knowledge and wisdom to share with your readers, which Cam definitely does. If you visit Cam’s about me page, you learn that he has hiked over 57,000 miles in over 56 countries and six different continents. How insane is that?! He has some more insane stats that he included in his about me, which you can access here . While I love hiking, I do not have the experience that Cam has, which is why I am encouraging all of you to check out his blog! He not only talks about the places he has traveled and hiked, but he has tons of different tips that will help you whenever you do choose to get out there and hike. Just looking through his blog briefly, you can learn so much more in a short amount of time, than you would t

If you’re from Illinois, you know that this state is primarily flat. However, there are quite a few areas that are great for hiking that are not as flat as the rest of the state. Below are five trails that you must check out if you’re from Illinois! One: Starved Rock State Park Starved Rock State Park is located near Ottawa and LaSalle and in my opinion, is one of the more widely known state parks. It is located along the Illinois River and offers a variety of different trails that suit multiple difficulty levels. There are flat trails and there are also more difficult hiking trails. The State Park is very easy to get to, and there is a parking lot which can be accessed throughout the day for easy access to the park. Two: Giant City State Park Giant City State Park is located south of Carbondale, Illinois, in the Shawnee National Forest. While I have not personally been to this location, it has been on my bucket list to hike at for a while now. There are a few diffe

Devil's Lake State Park

In Baraboo, Wisconsin, Devil’s Lake State Park resides which offers several different trails, as well as a lake. I want to talk about this state park because not only is it a great place for hiking, but because I have actually been hiking it since I was a little girl. Devil’s lake is pretty big, offering about 30 miles of trails throughout the park, and has cabins in case any of you were interested in making a trip out of coming here. You can either come into the park on the north shore or the south shore, and each shore has different trails to hike. My preference is coming in on the south shore, because it provides an immediate access to the scenery of the lake, as well as quick access to the hiking trails. My favorite trails to do here at Devil’s lake include the potholes trail, balanced rock trail, and the devil’s doorway trail. Potholes trail is very challenging in my opinion, because this trail takes you straight up to the top. The trail is vertical ro

Basics to hiking

If you are thinking about making hiking a part of your regular routine, or just getting started, there are some basic aspects that you should always keep in mind. 1. Stay hydrated! It’s important that you hydrate well before you go out on a hike, considering hiking can be a challenging workout for most people. Some hikes are not as strenuous as others, but staying hydrated is always important. I suggest drinking a couple bottles of water before you go hiking, as well as bringing a few with you on your hike. I have a camelback backpack, which is a backpack with a drinking nozzle attached to it. You don’t have to get that fancy, but those are also an option! 2. Wear good shoes! There are shoes you can buy that are designated for hiking, but sometimes they can be a little pricey. You don’t have to have legitimate hiking shoes, but they are always an option. If you don’t have any interest in buying hiking shoes, I suggest you at least wear shoes that are comfortable and gr

About Me

Welcome to Hike the World! For me, hiking has been a part of my life for as a long as I can remember. There is just something about hiking that brings me such joy, and makes me feel at peace. I unfortunately have had the pleasure of growing up in Illinois, which in my opinion, is not a great state for hiking given the fact that this state is very flat. Because of this, I have always been on the move to find locations that will take my breath away. I have indeed traveled to breath taking locations and hiked as much as my body could take, and those locations are something I am looking forward to sharing with you. This page is dedicated to sharing information about hiking, including hiking trails throughout the US, (and maybe outside the US), my personal experiences with hiking, as well as the aspect of traveling. You can expect to see in my upcoming blog posts: Trails I have personally hiked on States and trails that are on my bucket list to hike Information about
