Mystic Island Lake, Colorado

Mystic Island Lake! Mystic Island Lake is a lake is that is located outside of Vail, Colorado. It is in close proximity to Aspen, Colorado, which I have touched on quite a bit in my previous posts. Mystic Island Lake can be accessed by hiking Lake Charles first, which will lead you to Mystic Island Lake. While I have not personally hiked this trail, I have looked into it because of the close proximity to Aspen. It is nestled in the White River National Forest, which I have traveled to, and I wish I would have know about this place when I traveled to it, but now I can just plan another trip to check it out. It is rated as a long, difficult hike. It is about 9 miles out and back, with some very steep parts of the trail and difficult terrain to walk on. I have mentioned before that when I was in Colorado, we were hiking part of the trails in the snow. So I am going to strongly recommend that for this hike, you pack some type of snow shoe. A lot of the time, the trails are

Ramona Falls, Oregon

Ramona Falls! Ramona Falls is located about an hour east of Portland, Oregon, and you guessed it; features a stunning waterfall at the end of the hike! The hike is about 7 miles long and has been reviewed as easy to moderate, so it is doable for beginners, and especially doable for more experienced hikers. I have been to Oregon once, and let me tell you, it’s a beautiful place. When I had the opportunity to go to Oregon, I did quite a bit of hiking and it filled with lots of green forests and stunning overlooks at the top of each hike. It has been my goal to get back to Oregon and do some more hiking and I have been set on hiking Ramona Falls, considering I did not see any waterfalls in my previous hikes in Oregon. A few facts about this hike: 7 miles’ round-trip, labeled as out and back. Around 1000 feet elevation gain Can be very crowded Hiking this trail is primarily through early spring to late fall for best weather conditions I know a

Hiking Yosemite National Park

Yosemite National Park! Yosemite National Park is located near Stockton, California, and caught my eye due to its beautiful waterfalls and rock formations. I have never been to California, but I am recently discovering that California has a lot of beautiful places that are great for hiking. I’m hoping one day I will be able to hike Yosemite, so let me tell you a little about it and maybe you will want to hike it too! Yosemite has not just one, but multiple different waterfalls that you can explore!  A few are: Yosemite Falls – around 2,500 feet. Sentinel Falls – around 1,600 feet. Ribbon Fall – around 1,600 feet. Nevada Fall – around 600 feet. Vernal Fall – around 300 feet. Aside from the waterfalls, like I said before, there are a lot of different places here that you can hike. A cool one I have researched is called Hetch Hetchy. Hetch Hetchy is known for its extremely long hiking season, which is great because you would never really have

Cummins Falls State Park! This state park has been on my bucket list for a while! Located east of Nashville, near Cookeville, Tennessee, this state park resides and is known for its breath taking waterfalls! The waterfall is the focal point of the state park, and can be reached by a one mile or 1.5 mile hike. The waterfall descends into a pool type area where you can swim up to the waterfall, if you wish to do so. I have done some research on this area and this is a pretty difficult hike. It is not man made, meaning it has been kept the same and untouched. Because of this, it is difficult because of certain terrain and obstacles in the way. However, I believe every difficult hike comes with a perk, and this perk is the waterfall. The hike features a few different trails, including: Blackburn Fork River Trail Falls Overlook Trail John Cummins Trail This State Park has a lot of area for recreation, to be able to play sports outside or cookou

Arches National Park! Arches National Park is located in Moab, Utah, which is known for its enormous sandstone arches. When I had the opportunity to visit Aspen, I was about three hours away from this national park and planned to visit before I headed back to Illinois. However, it unfortunately didn’t happen. It is still on my bucket list to visit this amazing park. I’m from Illinois so this destination is about 20 hours if you’re driving; quite a haul but I would say that it is worth it, especially if you have other destinations you are trying to reach that in the area of this park. The good thing about this park, in my opinion, is that the park offers a lot of short trails. This is nice because whether you plan on staying for a long period of time or you are just passing through, shorter trails won’t wear you out too much, and you can still get a stunning view of what the park has to offer. Just a little summary of some of the trails in the park include:

Destination: Pikes Peak

Destination: Pikes Peak! Pikes Peak is located in Colorado Springs, and has an altitude of 14,115 feet above sea level. I have not personally been to Pikes Peak, but I have family who have traveled here a couple of times and they are in love with it. It is on the list of the one of the tallest peaks in Colorado, as well as one of the most visited mountains in all of North America. You can take the highway all the way to the top of the peak, where you can park and experience the amazing views all the way at the top. Not only can you travel to the top of the peak for the views, but the mountain offers several trails you can hike, as well as lakes and picnic areas for your enjoyment. The most popular trail at this mountain is Barr Trail, which is 26 miles round trip. That is insane! I have never done a hike that long, so if you feel like you want to hike this, make sure you are prepared beforehand. The thing that is especially important for you to prepare for, i
